Even though the Mingus Marauders scored an imposing 62 points on Monday, the Flagstaff Eagles still came out on top. Flagstaff took their game against Mingus 73-62. This was payback for Flagstaff, who suffered a 67-58 defeat the last time these two teams met.
It was another big night for Jake Centner, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Harrison Fritsch, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and six assists.
When it comes to explaining why Mingus lost, one person who can't be blamed is Alerik Villalobos. Despite the final result, he scored 18 points along with eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Villalobos has scored all season. Ricky Villalobos was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds.
Flagstaff's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-11. As for Mingus, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Flagstaff will play host again and welcome Bradshaw Mountain, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Bradshaw Mountain is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 53.9 points per game. As for Mingus, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Prescott at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Prescott's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight contests.
