Buffalo is a perfect 4-0 against Clay County since March of 2025 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Bison will challenge the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. Buffalo is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Buffalo got the win against Braxton County by a conclusive 19-1. The matchup marked the Bison's most dominant victory of the season so far.

Nate Gillispie was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2025. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jake Cossin, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Hunter Rutan was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and two runs.
Buffalo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .639. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Clay County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Nicholas County, falling 19-4.
Pierce Adkins made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last nine games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ghatlon Stanton, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Buffalo pushed their record up to 8-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Clay County, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Buffalo has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Clay County struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Buffalo's way against Clay County in their previous matchup back in March, as Buffalo made off with a 7-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bison since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
