Crescenta Valley is a perfect 10-0 against Muir since May of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Falcons will look to defend their home field against the Mustangs at 3:45 p.m. Crescenta Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
Crescenta Valley took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Burbank a 13-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won three in a row.
Crescenta Valley got a massive performance out of Mila Reddy, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI Reddy has posted since back in April of 2024. Hannah Wyroski was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Reddy wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Crescenta Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Muir fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Burroughs on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bears by a score of 2-1.
Muir saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ariel (Shorty) Flores, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.
Muir's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Crescenta Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Crescenta Valley hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1 home runs per game. However, it's not like Muir struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Crescenta Valley took their win against Muir in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 12-2 score. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
