Ravenna hasn't had much luck against Norton recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Ravens will venture away from home to challenge the Panthers at 5:00 p.m.
The home team had won the previous four meetings between Ravenna and Streetsboro, and Streetsboro kept the tradition alive. The Ravens might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 6-4 to the Rockets, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Norton). They never let Woodridge get on the board and left with a 16-0 win on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Skout Williams was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, Norton let Addison Calo and Dakota Graham run wild. Calo went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Graham went 1-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Myra Milner also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Norton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Woodridge only managed four.
Norton has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Ravenna, their loss dropped their record down to 2-12.
Ravenna might still be hurting after the 15-0 defeat they got from Norton in their previous meeting last Monday. Can the Ravens avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
