La Vernia is 3-0 against San Antonio Memorial since February of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The La Vernia Bears will head out on the road to take on the San Antonio Memorial Minutemen at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
La Vernia put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Wednesday. They blew past Young Women's Leadership Academy 5-1. The win was nothing new for La Vernia as they're now sitting on three straight.
Meanwhile, San Antonio Memorial had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They skirted past Fox Tech 2-1. The win was just what San Antonio Memorial needed coming off of a 4-0 defeat in their prior matchup.
They were led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Karen Corona Fuentes and
Luna Gutierrez, who scored both of San Antonio Memorial's goals. Those were goals were season-firsts for both players.
The victory got La Vernia back to even at 6-6-1. As for San Antonio Memorial, their win bumped their record up to 3-10-3.
Everything went La Vernia's way against San Antonio Memorial in their previous meeting back in March of 2023 as La Vernia made off with a 7-1 victory. Will La Vernia repeat their success, or does San Antonio Memorial have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
