The Mulvane Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Buhler Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Mulvane is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Crusaders in Kansas (the Wildcats are ranked 52nd, while the Crusaders are ranked 254th).
Mulvane fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Spartans on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 55-53.
Mulvane's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Aiden Mckee, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds, and Manny Myers who scored 14 points. That was a full 37.7% of Mulvane's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Canon Lazier was another key contributor, scoring five points.
Meanwhile, Buhler came into Tuesday's matchup having lost ten straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They had just enough and edged Rose Hill out 52-50. The win was just what Buhler needed coming off of a 59-35 loss in their prior contest.
Mulvane's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-4. As for Buhler, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-10.
Mulvane came up short against the Crusaders when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 44-39. Can Mulvane avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
