There's no place like home for the Silver Creek Dragons, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Saturday. They came out on top against Clarksville by a score of 50-39 on Thursday. Given Silver Creek's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 77th, while Clarksville is ranked 306th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Silver Creek found their leader in underclassman Kasen Daeger, who scored 15 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Daeger has scored at least 25% of Silver Creek's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Davidson, who scored seven points.
When it comes to explaining why Clarksville lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jacob Seward. Despite the final result, he scored 15 points along with four blocks and three steals. Those four blocks set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Juwan Walker, who scored six points along with three blocks.
Clarksville struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Silver Creek's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.2 points per game. As for Clarksville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-6.
Silver Creek won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Providence on December 29, 2023. Providence is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games. Clarksville won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Charlestown at 6:00 p.m. on December 29, 2023.
