The Yuma Criminals will take on the Cortez Colts at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Thursday, Yuma beat Desert Sunrise 13-8.
Monika Ordaz made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off ten hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Derryel Medel, who went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. Meanwhile, Cortez got the win against Dysart on Wednesday by a conclusive 17-1. The Colts haven't had any issues with the Demons recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Noelia Santos was excellent, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs.
Cortez's win bumped their record up to 6-11. As for Yuma, their victory bumped their record up to 11-7.
Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Yuma has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .452. However, it's not like Cortez struggles in that department as they've averaged .563. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Yuma's way against Cortez in their previous matchup last Tuesday, as Yuma made off with a 17-1 win. Do the Criminals have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Colts turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
