Gainesville has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the South Paulding Spartans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Gainesville is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than South Paulding in Georgia (Gainesville is ranked 14th, while South Paulding is ranked 142nd).
Gainesville can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Friday. They breezed by Jackson County on the road to the tune of 28-0. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Gainesville had established a 21 point advantage.
Among those leading the charge was Baxter Wright, who threw for 179 yards and two touchdowns while completing 76.9% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was Eric Hart, who picked up 103 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Gainesville's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. The heavy lifting was done by Julius Columbus and Xavier Griffin who racked up four sacks between them.
Meanwhile, South Paulding was the victim of a rough 30-7 loss at the hands of Douglas County on Friday. South Paulding was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 23-0.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Kade Wigginton, who threw for 106 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes.
Gainesville's victory was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-0. As for South Paulding, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-7.
