The Wallenpaupack Area Buckhorns will take on the Abington Heights Comets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Wallenpaupack Area will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any points last Friday, then bounced right back against Scranton on Friday. The Buckhorns claimed a resounding 35-7 victory over the Knights. The result was nothing new for the Buckhorns, who have now won three games by 28 points or more so far this season.
Wallenpaupack Area's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ed Kiesendahl, who rushed for 154 yards and four TDs on only 15 carries. Kiesendahl is becoming a predictor of the Buckhorns' success: when he posts at least 80 rushing yards the team is undefeated (and 0-4 when he doesn't). Logan Caruso was another key rusher, rushing for 129 yards and one score while picking up 7.6 yards per carry.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Wallenpaupack Area was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 289 rushing yards. They are a perfect 3-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Wallenpaupack Area didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jake Rafferty and Izael Rodriguez. Rodriguez also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with seven.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Abington Heights, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They had just enough and edged out Scranton Prep 17-15.

Abington Heights' defense made their presence known, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Jocsan Muentes, Thomas Reese, and Logan Bohn, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Abington Heights' win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Wallenpaupack Area, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-4 record.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Wallenpaupack Area has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 200.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Abington Heights struggles in that department as they've been averaging 171.7 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Wallenpaupack Area took a serious blow against Abington Heights in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, falling 41-0. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Comets' Nick Bradley, who rushed for 30 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 216 yards and a pair of TDs.
