Baseball Recap: Hanna Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Hanna, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Veterans Memorial Chargers 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Golden Eagles have posted since February 27th.

Sebastian Escamilla spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up ten Ks. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Gene Martinez and Aziel Medellin did most of the damage at the plate: Martinez went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, while Medellin scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits Medellin has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Ruiz, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Hanna was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Hanna's record is now 6-11. As for Veterans Memorial, their defeat ended a 15-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 10-9.
