Basketball Recap: Lia Wahl's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Bishop Ready over Whitehall-Yearling

Bishop Ready was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 47-41 heartbreaker at the hands of the Whitehall-Yearling Rams. While losing is never fun, the Silver Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 444th, while the Rams are ranked 211th).

Several Silver Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lia Wahl, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Wahl is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Terriauna Daniels was another key player, putting up eight points.

Leading Whitehall-Yearling to victory were Jayla Dukes and Kyeona Myers. Dukes went 6 of 8 on her way to 16 points, while Myers went 6 for 10 on her way to 15 points in addition to seven boards and four steals. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Jackson, who posted 11 points and five rebounds.

Bishop Ready's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Whitehall-Yearling, they pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bishop Ready and Hilliard Davidson will compete for holiday cheer at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Whitehall-Yearling will take on Grandview Heights in a holiday battle at at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Grandview Heights will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Whitehall-Yearling surely won't give up without a fight.
