Softball Recap: Bayard Rustin Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Win

Bayard Rustin won against Downingtown West on Wednesday with five runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Golden Knights never let the Sun Valley Vanguards get on the board and left with a 5-0 win. The victory was nothing new for the Golden Knights as they're now sitting on six straight.

Ashley Falcone made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

In other batting news, Bayard Rustin let Sarah Wood and Liv Shuffler run wild. Wood went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Shuffler went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave Wood a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sarah Lang, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

Bayard Rustin pushed their record up to 12-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Sun Valley, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bayard Rustin will take on Villa Maria Academy at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sun Valley, they will square off against Bishop Shanahan at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
