Winthrop is 1-8 against Hall-Dale since May of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Ramblers will square off against the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. Winthrop has given up an average of 12.3 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Winthrop is headed into Wednesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Monday. They came up short against Oak Hill, falling 15-8. Ramblers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Raiders since on Monday.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Hall-Dale, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They never let Mount Abram get on the board and left with a 15-0 win on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won five matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Lucy Gray made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Hall-Dale got a massive performance out of Maddy Coro, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That double was Coro's first of the season. Genevieve Ciccarelli was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Hall-Dale always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .677. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Hall-Dale pushed their record up to 9-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Winthrop, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.
Winthrop might still be hurting after the 13-0 defeat they got from Hall-Dale in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Ramblers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
