Jessica Knight was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Knight was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs.
In other batting news, Adrienne Koontz was excellent, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Mihret Sanders was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
Seattle Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Vashon Island, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-12.
Wednesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Vashon Island has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .456. However, it's not like Seattle Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .515. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
