With a playoff win on the line, St. Mary rose to the challenge on Wednesday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Corbett Cardinals a 5-0 shutout. Considering St. Mary's have won nine matches by more than two goals this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

The win (which was St. Mary's eighth in a row) raised their record to 9-3. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 59 goals over those eight contests. As for Corbett, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-7.

Coming up, St. Mary's will take on Westside Christian on Saturday. St. Mary's will need to watch out since Westside Christian have now posted at least four goals in their last five matchups. Corbett does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
