The Chapel Hill Tigers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They ended the year with a bang, routing Franklin Academy 74-49. Winning may never get old, but Chapel Hill sure is getting used to it with their eighth in a row.
David Mirikwe continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 15 points along with four steals. The matchup was his tenth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Thomas Evans , who scored eight points.
Franklin Academy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Tyler Pace, who scored 15 points, and Hayes Lewis who scored 15 points. Pace scored a full 30.6% of Franklin Academy's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Chapel Hill's victory bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Franklin Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-6.
Chapel Hill will finish 2023 at home by hosting Nansemond River at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Nansemond River is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Franklin Academy and J.F. Webb will round out the year against one another at 9:30 a.m. on Friday at. Allowing an average of 51.4 points per game, J.F. Webb has struggled on the defensive end, but that doesn't have to be the case in this matchup.
