Baseball Recap: Grace Christian Victorious

Grace Christian posted their closest win since March 13th on Saturday. They skirted past the East Wake Academy Eagles 5-4.

Luke Roupe was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Roupe was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Landon McDonald looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Grace Christian got a big performance out of Caleb Ellis, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Cuddy, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Grace Christian's record now sits at 12-3. As for East Wake Academy, they moved to 9-3 with that loss, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

Coming up, Grace Christian will challenge Cary Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Crusaders' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for East Wake Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge NCSSM: Durham at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles are facing the Unicorns at the right time seeing as the Unicorns are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
