Basketball Recap: Fort Collins Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Fort Collins, who bounced back after a loss on the road back in December of 2024. They came out on top against the Rocky Mountain Lobos by a score of 54-44 on Tuesday. This was payback for the Lambkins, who suffered a 62-40 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Fort Collins had a senior duo take command as Marcus Burkett went 5 for 8 on his way to 19 points and Henry Peterson posted 13 points. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for Burkett. The team also got some help courtesy of Spiro Palmer, who put up six points.

Despite the loss, Rocky Mountain had strong showings from Daniel Mbadinga, who earned ten points along with seven boards and three steals, and Bode Nesbitt, who had 12 points. Mateo Valencia was another key player, putting up seven points.

Fort Collins' record now sits at 3-5. As for Rocky Mountain, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fort Collins will face off against Fossil Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Fossil Ridge is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60 points per game this season. As for Rocky Mountain, they will challenge Erie at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Erie's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests.
