Centennial had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Columbus International Lions. Ellie Glover was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off only two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season.
In other batting news, Centennial got a big performance out of Ryan Hammond, who scored a run and stole four bases while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances. Aza Corbett was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-2.
Centennial's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Columbus International, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.
