Even though the Corinth Warriors scored an imposing 58 points on Wednesday, the Ripley Tigers still came out on top. Ripley took their match against Corinth 66-58. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Ripley has managed all season.
Despite the loss, Corinth saw an underclassman step up: Xae Mayes went 6 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 29 points and 5 assists. The matchup was Mayes' eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Braedyn Burress, who scored six points along with ten rebounds.
Ripley's win bumped their record up to 2-9. As for Corinth, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ripley will face off against Amory at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Corinth won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Walnut at 4:30 p.m. on December 28th.
