On Friday, things could have been worse for Oak Grove, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 42-28 loss to St. Paul Lutheran.
Oak Grove's loss came despite strong showings from Jaxon Weber and Maurkalip Riley. Weber scored nine points along with five rebounds, while Riley scored five points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Riley has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played.
Oak Grove has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for St. Paul Lutheran, they pushed their record up to 9-6 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oak Grove will take on Marshall at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Marshall knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Oak Grove likes a good challenge. Versailles has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,248 points over their last 16 games.
