Wolcott extended the longest winning streak in Naugatuck Valley - Brass this week by beating Watertown, 28-14. The win marks seventh in a row for the the Eagles.
Crosby made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 11,943 from 12,262. The improvement was the result of 61-20 victory over the Bulldogs last week.
Derby's dynamic duo of Michael Kreiger and Dillon McMahon proved tough for Torrington to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Kreiger threw for 328 yards and six touchdowns and McMahon had 238 yards receiving. Jordan Larue helped Derby's passing attack out by catching five balls for 73 yards.
Arkeel Newsome was the most productive running back in the league this week. In seven carries, he ran for 146 yards as Ansonia fell to the Red Raiders. Teammate Saiheed Sanders added to the ground attack by rushing for 91 yards.
6-foot-1 quarterback Kreiger of Derby is the league leader in passing yards this season with 877. He has also thrown 14 touchdowns. On the ground, Wolcott's Mike Nicol has rushed for 872 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Andrew Matos. The Ansonia star has 17 catches for 493 yards.
The marquee game in Naugatuck Valley - Brass this week will be the clash between the Chargers and the Eagles. Ansonia enters the game ranked second in the state, while Wolcott ranks 18th.
There should be lots of points scored when Thomas Brockett's team and the Eagles face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Chargers comes in having scored 353 this season, while Wolcott has scored 290. Ansonia scored 61 points last week as it beat Crosby.
