Baseball Recap: River Ridge/Scales Mound Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

River Ridge/Scales Mound and Amboy pushed the score to 12-7 the last time they played Amboy, but on Saturday defenses reigned supreme. The Wildcats' pitchers stepped up to hand the Clippers a 3-0 shutout. That's two games straight that the Wildcats have won by exactly three runs.

River Ridge/Scales Mound saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaden Duerr, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double. Duerr has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another was Damon Dittmar, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

River Ridge/Scales Mound has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Amboy, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. River Ridge/Scales Mound will host Lena-Winslow at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Amboy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Putnam County at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Clippers will need to watch out since the Panthers have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
