On Monday, the Anacostia Indians faced the Roosevelt Roughriders in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Anacostia fell 48-40 to Roosevelt. Anacostia was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Roosevelt apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Despite the defeat, Anacostia saw an underclassman step up: Nayjah Duvall dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ta'shaun Robinson, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
Anacostia's defeat dropped their record down to 12-10. As for Roosevelt, their victory bumped their record up to 8-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Anacostia will take on Jackson-Reed at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in District of Columbia (Anacostia is ranked eighth, while Jackson-Reed is ranked fourth). As for Roosevelt, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Banneker at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Roosevelt has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
