The North Polars can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They skirted past New Richmond 49-46. The victory was just what North needed coming off of a 75-47 loss in their prior matchup.
North's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ashlee Horton led the charge by scoring 14 points. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for her. Kahlia Briley was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven steals and five rebounds.
North's win bumped their record up to 2-8. As for New Richmond, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-11.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Simley at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Minnesota (Simley is ranked 334th, while North is ranked 350th). As for New Richmond, they will head out on the road to face off against Chippewa Falls at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Chippewa Falls is on a four-game streak of home losses, New Richmond a five-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change.
