Softball Recap: First Academy Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for First Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. Everything went their way against the Wildwood Wildcats on Tuesday as they made off with a 15-4 win. Considering the Eagles have won seven games by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Claire Carlton was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Avery Keller was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

First Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wildwood only posted an OBP of .423.

First Academy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Wildwood, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-14.

Looking ahead, First Academy will challenge Hernando Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 21.23 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Wildwood, they are taking a road trip to take on Meadowbrook Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
