Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Catholic - N.I. walked away with it. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Pope John Paul II Jaguars 3-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-1 last Saturday.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (96-90) Catholic - N.I. actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 15-25, 25-16, 10-25, 15-7.

Catholic - N.I. can attribute much of their success to Gracie Neck, who had 14 digs and two aces. That's the most aces Neck has posted over her last six contests.

Despite the loss, Pope John Paul II saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kayla Brown had 27 digs and one assist. Those 27 digs set a new season-high mark for Brown.

Catholic - N.I. has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 28-16 record this season. As for Pope John Paul II, their defeat ended a three-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 22-16.

As of now, neither Catholic - N.I. nor the Jaguars have any future games scheduled.
