The West Florence Knights's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Cardinal Newman Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on December 5th. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Last Thursday, West Florence came up short against St. James and fell 58-50. While losing is never fun, West Florence can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 155th, while St. James is ranked 48th).
Meanwhile, Cardinal Newman's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They fell 58-45 to Dreher.
Despite their loss, Cardinal Newman saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Evan Carter, who scored 20 points along with 8 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Carter scored a full 44.4% of Cardinal Newman's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Manny Davis was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with 5 assists and 3 steals.
A.C. Flora's victory bumped their season record to 0-0 while West Florence's loss dropped theirs to 1-3.
