The LaVergne Wolverines will venture away from home to face off against the McGavock Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. LaVergne has given up an average of 8.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
LaVergne is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They came out on top against Hillsboro by a score of 14-11 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wolverines.

Dominic Townsend made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). That one earned run gave him a new career-low. He was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with five runs, three doubles, and two RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caleb Lund, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Jay Jerome also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
LaVergne always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, McGavock might've scored the first runs on Thursday, but it was Lawson who claimed the real prize. McGavock lost 19-8 to Lawson. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Raiders have suffered since April 8, 2024.
Montario Ostine made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole Three bases. while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Cody Calvin, who scored two runs and stole Two bases.
McGavock's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for LaVergne, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
LaVergne was able to grind out a solid win over McGavock when the teams last played last Wednesday, winning 11-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for LaVergne since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
