Basketball Recap: Joelle Mathews and Joanna Mathews Secure Win for Carroll Christian

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Springdale Prep, Carroll Christian was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They secured a 50-45 W over the Grace Academy Knights. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Carroll Christian also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2024.

Leading Carroll Christian to victory were Joanna Mathews and Joelle Mathews. Joanna posted 23 points along with seven rebounds and six assists, while Joelle dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 boards. Joanna's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Kardyn Kraipovich was another key player, putting up no points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Carroll Christian is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.8 points per game. As for Grace Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Carroll Christian will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Redeemer Classical Christ at 5:30 p.m. on January 28th. As for Grace Academy, they will host Cumberland Valley Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
