Basketball Recap: Grand Canyon Takes a Loss

Grand Canyon played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 89-44 loss at the hands of the Joseph City Wildcats. The defeat continues a trend for the Phantoms in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now lost nine in a row.

Despite the loss, Grand Canyon still got an impressive performance from Ryder Lyle, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards. Lyle is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last three games he's played.

Joseph City's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cort Miller, who went 6 of 8 from beyond the arc on his way to 20 points in addition to seven steals and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli James, who went 11 for 18 en route to 23 points.

Grand Canyon's loss dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Joseph City, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.

Grand Canyon wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 76-50 win against Rough Rock on the 30th. As for Joseph City, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 68-23 victory against Ash Fork on the 28th.
