The Nitro Wildcats came tearing into Saturday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They breezed by Wayne on the road to the tune of 75-45. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Nitro has managed all season.
Leading Nitro to victory were Ashton Crouch and Timmy Lovejoy. Crouch scored 22 points along with six rebounds, while Lovejoy dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. Ty Stephens was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Wayne's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zane Adkins, who scored 15 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Isaac Meddings, who scored 11 points.
Nitro's victory bumped their record up to 14-1. As for Wayne, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-10.
Nitro will take on the Bees at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday. East Fairmont is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road. As for Wayne, they will square off against the Skyhawks at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Scott is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
