Colorado is a perfect 5-0 against Sonora since March of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Wolves will host the Broncos at 5:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Colorado's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by an 18-0 margin over Christoval. The high-scoring effort was just what the Wolves needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
Mia Obenhaus was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Obenhaus was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in February.
In other batting news, Colorado got a massive performance out of Bryanna Munoz, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Aj Goodney was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.
Colorado always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Christoval only posted an OBP of .286.
Meanwhile, Sonora came into Tuesday's game having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past Miles 16-1 on Tuesday.
Liliana Gallegos was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tayvin Gonzales, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Colorado has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Sonora, their win bumped their record up to 13-8.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Colorado hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .395. However, it's not like Sonora struggles in that department as they've averaged .338. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Colorado took their victory against Sonora in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a conclusive 10-0 score. Do the Wolves have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Broncos turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
