The Winter Park Wildcats put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They managed a 21-16 win over Timber Creek. Given Winter Park's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 65th, while Timber Creek is ranked 246th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Winter Park got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Aaron Williams out in front who threw for 214 yards and two touchdowns. Winter Park also got a significant boost from Joseph Goho, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 103 yards.
When it comes to explaining why Timber Creek lost, one person who can't be blamed is Nathaniel Hull. Despite the final result, he rushed for 129 yards and two touchdowns.
Winter Park's win was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-0. As for Timber Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Winter Park will square off against Lake Brantley at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Lake Brantley comes in on a streak of failing to score more than seven points in their last five games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Timber Creek, they will head out on the road to face off against Cypress Creek at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Cypress Creek comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
