Baseball Recap: Riverview Extends Winning Streak to Three

Riverview entered their tilt with Brentwood on Monday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Spartans. That's two games straight that the Raiders have won by exactly seven runs.

Lukas Duncan and Rex Roberts made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Duncan struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Meanwhile, Roberts tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Duncan has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Duncan got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Roberts went 2-for-5 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave Roberts a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Miles Duncan, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Metz, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Riverview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.

Riverview's record now sits at 4-1. As for Brentwood, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Riverview will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Spartans: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
