This season hasn't been kind to the Coral Gables Cavaliers, who are still winless after their fifth contest. They were outmatched by Palmetto at home and fell 63-18. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Coral Gables has scored all season.
Sela Pe?a and Savannah Villarreal certainly did their best on Wednesday to try and avoid the loss. Pe?a scored seven points, while Villarreal scored five points.
Leading Palmetto to victory were Sami Anes and Ale Falcon. Anes dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds, while Falcon dropped a double-double on 26 points and 15 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Falcon has scored at least 25% of Palmetto's points. Kailey Gonzalez-Quevedo was another key contributor, scoring six points along with four steals.
Coral Gables bumped their record down to 0-5 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Palmetto, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.
Coral Gables will be home for the holidays to greet North Miami at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Palmetto won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart at 5:00 p.m. on December 14th.
