The Tucker County Mountain Lions stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They breezed by East Hardy on the road to the tune of 78-41. Given Tucker County's advantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while the Cougars are ranked 91st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Raven Matthews continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 22 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks. Macy Helmick was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Despite the loss, East Hardy still got an impressive performance from Brooklynn Tinnell, who scored 25 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Tucker County pushed their record up to 11-4 with that victory, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.1 points per game. As for East Hardy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-12.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tucker County will take on the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for East Hardy, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Wildcat at 6:00 p.m. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Avery Townsend and Tinnell.
