The New Miami Vikings will take on the Northwest Knights at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (New Miami has three straight victories, Northwest has 11 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Thursday, New Miami got the win against North College Hill by a conclusive 18-2. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won 11 matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Mikaela Lema made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
In other batting news, Maraiah Powell was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Jailyn Williams was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Northwest came up short against Norwood on Saturday, falling 18-1.
Northwest saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kindal Ellison, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.
Northwest's loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for New Miami, their win bumped their record up to 13-5.
Northwest's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: New Miami has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.6 hits per game. It's a different story for Northwest, though, as they've been averaging 9 hits. Given New Miami's sizable advantage in that area, the Knights will need to find a way to close that gap.
New Miami got the 'W' in their previous matchup two weeks ago against Northwest by a conclusive 24-3 score. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
