Center Place's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 33-27 hit to the loss column at the hands of Plaza Heights Christian Academy. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Center Place of the 39-34 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.
Despite the loss, Center Place had strong showings from Isabelle Howen, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and two steals, and Charity Drope, who scored six points.
Plaza Heights Christian Academy was led to victory by Reece Cornine and Sydney Berry. Cornine scored 11 points along with two steals and two blocks, while Berry scored seven points along with 15 rebounds and five steals. Cornine has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played.
Center Place's loss was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-5. As for Plaza Heights Christian Academy, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-5.
