Grafton is 6-1 against New Berlin Eisenhower since September of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Black Hawks will host the Lions at 7:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Grafton is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They put the hurt on Cudahy with a sharp 3-0 win. The Black Hawks not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since September 23rd (when they won 3-0).
The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Grafton was: they took every set by at least 15 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-4, 25-5, 25-10.
Abigail Barthelemy and Paige Arentz were among the main playmakers for Grafton as the former had ten digs and two aces and the latter had 17 assists and four digs.
They weren't the only good servers: Grafton was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 17 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in eight consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for New Berlin Eisenhower, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. Everything went their way against Whitnall on Thursday as they made off with a 3-0 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Lions as it put an end to their three-match losing streak.
One reason for the win was New Berlin Eisenhower's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-17, 25-14.
New Berlin Eisenhower's victory bumped their record up to 24-12. As for Grafton, their win bumped their record up to 25-10.
Grafton was able to grind out a solid victory over New Berlin Eisenhower when the teams last played back in September, winning 2-0. Do the Black Hawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
