The Vaughn White Tigers will face off against the Van Nuys Wolves at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Vaughn is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.
Vaughn managed to slip by East Valley the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The White Tigers came up short against the Falcons on Friday, falling 17-5. White Tigers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Falcons since on Friday.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last contest, Van Nuys made sure to put some runs up on the board against Canoga Park on Wednesday. The Wolves put the hurt on the Hunters with a sharp 22-1 victory. Considering the Wolves have won five games by more than ten runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
ARIEL PUENTE was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. PUENTE was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on KIMBERLY NUNEZ, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Nadia Ubaldo, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Van Nuys kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Van Nuys is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Vaughn, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
Vaughn suffered a grim 28-14 defeat to Van Nuys in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Will the White Tigers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
