The Yulee Hornets were the 77-51 winner over the Baker County Wildcats when they last played one another on December 1st, but their luck changed this time around. Yulee suffered a rough 52-31 loss at the hands of Baker County on Thursday. Yulee was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-11.
Despite the defeat, Yulee saw an underclassman step up: Carter Kirchner scored ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ace Walker, who scored five points.
Yulee are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-6. As for Baker County, their victory ended a nine-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-7.
Yulee and Stanton will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Stanton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 last Wednesday. Baker County won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Temple Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on December 29th. Temple Christian Academy will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
