Leake Academy put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 61-47 win over the Lamar Raiders. Given the Rebels' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked third, while the Raiders are ranked 62nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Leake Academy to victory were Sarah Prince and Marleigh Myers. Prince posted 12 points along with seven rebounds and six assists, while Myers went 5 of 6 on her way to 13 points and five rebounds. Leake Academy pushed their record up to 25-0 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.5 points per game. As for Lamar, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-8.
Leake Academy will face off against East Rankin Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Leake Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Lamar, they will host Simpson Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
