Softball Recap: Flintridge Sacred Heart Beats Polytechnic for Their Sixth Straight Victory

Flintridge Sacred Heart came tearing into Wednesday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Polytechnic Panthers. Considering the Tologs have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Siena Gundersen was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Nawrocki, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and two runs.

Flintridge Sacred Heart was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in ten consecutive matchups.

Flintridge Sacred Heart's win bumped their record up to 11-3-1. As for Polytechnic, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 7-6.

Coming up, Flintridge Sacred Heart will welcome Marymount at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Sailors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.33 runs per game on average), something the Tologs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Polytechnic, they will challenge Providence at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pioneers have averaged an impressive 10.6 runs per game this season.
