Woodland Regional is 2-7 against Kennedy since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Woodland Regional Hawks will be playing at home against the Kennedy Eagles at 6:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Even though Woodland Regional has not done well against Waterbury Career Academy recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Woodland Regional had just enough and edged Waterbury Career Academy out 73-70. The victory was all the more spectacular given Woodland Regional's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 147th, while Waterbury Career Academy is ranked 35th).
Meanwhile, Kennedy earned a 66-56 victory over Wolcott on Wednesday.
Terrance Morrison continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Morrison, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Woodland Regional's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-9. As for Kennedy, their victory bumped their record up to 4-7.
Woodland Regional came up short against Kennedy in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, falling 66-55. Can Woodland Regional avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
