Hilliard has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Hamilton County Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hilliard knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten matchups -- so hopefully Hamilton County likes a good challenge.
Even though Fernandina Beach scored an imposing 64 points on Tuesday, Hilliard still came out on top. Hilliard walked away with a 74-64 win over Fernandina Beach. Given Hilliard's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 115th, while Fernandina Beach is ranked 305th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in CJ Hall and Chase Landtroop. Hall had a great game and scored 20 points along with nine rebounds. Meanwhile, Landtroop was balling out in the loss, scoring 20 points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Hamilton County lost to Lafayette at home by a decisive 58-42 margin on Friday.
Hilliard has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-2 record this season. As for Hamilton County, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.
Everything came up roses for Hilliard against Hamilton County in their previous meeting two weeks ago as the squad secured a 73-28 victory. With Hilliard ahead 41-10 at the half, the match was all but over already.
