Trinity Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jackson North Side only posted an OBP of .062.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fayette Academy). Everything went their way against Fayette Ware on Tuesday as they made off with a 24-1 victory. The win was nothing new for the Vikings as they're now sitting on three straight.
Like Trinity Christian Academy, Fayette Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: JoAnna Bond. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Bond has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, Kasey Kimery was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Paige Ladner was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Fayette Academy pushed their record up to 8-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 20.0 runs over those games. As for Trinity Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 7-8.
Fayette Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Trinity Christian Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Fayette Academy, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.1 strikeouts. Will Trinity Christian Academy keep running through batters, or will the Vikings buck the trend?
Trinity Christian Academy took their win against Fayette Academy in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 20-3 score. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
