Basketball Game Preview: Dorman Cavaliers vs. James F. Byrnes Rebels

Dorman and James F. Byrnes are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2021, but not for long. The Dorman Cavaliers will challenge the James F. Byrnes Rebels at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Dorman knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 games -- so hopefully James F. Byrnes likes a good challenge.

Dorman is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of South Carolina's top teams: Gaffney, who was ranked eighth at the time (Dorman was ranked 18th). Dorman walked away with a 60-49 victory over Gaffney on Tuesday.

It was another big night for Morgan White, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 boards. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 8.1 rebounds per game. Jade Barlow was another key player, going 6 for 10 on her way to 14 points.

Dorman smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 11 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, James F. Byrnes got the win against Spartanburg on Tuesday by a conclusive 70-44. The Rebels have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 22 points or more this season.

Dorman has also been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.5 points per game. As for James F. Byrnes, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-6.

Dorman came up short against James F. Byrnes when the teams last played back in January, falling 64-60. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of James F. Byrnes' Jaida Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 16 boards. Now that Dorman knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time?
