It was a proper cat-fight when Ouachita Parish challenged Neville on Thursday. Ouachita Parish was the clear victor by a 12-1 margin over Neville. The high-scoring effort was just what the Lions needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.
The team relied heavily on Rheagan Montgomery, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Taylor Madison, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3.
Ouachita Parish was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are 11-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Alexandria waltzed into their contest on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Everything went their way against the Bearcats as they made off with a 14-2 win.
Lauren Bonnette spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Mary Claire Brinkman was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-5. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Anniston Fairbanks was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Alexandria's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Ouachita Parish, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 15-9 record.
Ouachita Parish came up short against Alexandria in their previous meeting on March 13th, falling 6-3. Can Ouachita Parish avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
